Price of fruit and vegetables set to rise after rent hike at Melbourne Market

The price of groceries is set to skyrocket after wholesalers at Melbourne Wholesale Fruit and Vegetable Market in Epping were slapped with crippling rent increases.


The government-owned Melbourne Market Authority has announced a rent increase for its tenants by more than 100 per cent over the next decade.


Fresh State, the body representing wholesalers at the market, has called for the board to resign.
