Community rallies around Burnett and Mifsud families after horses die in Forbes stable fire


Monique Burnett knew the harness racing community was generous, but she has been surprised by the support her family has received since losing 11 horses in a stable fire last week.

An online crowdfunding campaign has raised more than $130,000 to help the Burnett and Mifsud families recover and rebuild after a stable was destroyed at Mifsud's Grand Lodge, in the central Victorian community of Forbes, during the early hours of July 8.


Ms Burnett is the daughter of trainer Rita Burnett and the niece of the property's owners.


Her family has been part of the harness racing industry for more than 50 years.
