Everyone has been to a Christmas party, a birthday party and maybe even a Tupperware party. But would you ever consider going to a durian party?
Durians, a tropical fruit, are famous for their overpowering smell.
The fruit has such a pungent odour that in some Asian countries it has been banned from public transport and in hotels.
Zona Tan-Sheppard from The Thorny Fruit Company, started hosting durian parties in Sydney this year after watching their popularity grow overseas.
"It's such a big craze in Malaysia, and I know they've starting doing them in Melbourne, so I decided to give it a go," she told ABC Rural.
"I started researching durian parties and found they were mainly buffets.
"People would pay $88 and eat as much durian as they want, which sounds a bit crazy, I mean who in their right minds would stuff themselves with durian?"
