Melbourne has been named Australia’s top ranked student city – and third best in the world – in the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Best Student Cities Ranking 2019.
Higher education consultancy QS placed Melbourne behind London and Tokyo in the global rankings, with only two Australian cities placing within the Top 10.
Chair of the City of Melbourne’s International Engagement portfolio, Councillor Philip Le Liu, said the ranking reinforced Melbourne’s position as a desirable place to live, work and study.
“The City of Melbourne is proud of its reputation for offering world-leading higher education facilities and a lifestyle attractive for both national and international students,” Cr Le Liu said.
“Thousands of students from a broad range of backgrounds and countries choose Melbourne every year to study and forge their future. At the City of Melbourne we work hard to ensure everyone feels welcome and is afforded the best study opportunities.”
