Surfing in the city no longer a pipe-dream with new wave park

Melburnians will be able to ‘Hang 10’ just 25 minutes from the city by next year.

Construction has today kicked off on URBNSURF Melbourne at Tullamarine Airport, marking the first of a three surf parks planned for Australia.

The jewel in the crown of the unique development is ‘Wavegarden Cove’, a 2.1 hectare lagoon which promises to pump out 1000 two-metre waves on the hour.

Unlike the often-tumultuous swells of Bells Beach, the artificial pool is designed for surfers of all capabilities.
